Proper Clothes for a Valet to Wear

If you think you have the skills it takes to become a valet, you will find that it is fairly easy to get a job doing so. There are many agencies which pair up buyers with valets for periods between a few days and a few weeks. If you are helpful and courteous, you will get good reviews and therefore be sent out on more jobs. But first you will need to find the right clothes to wear while you are being a valet. Valets are known for being classy gentlemen, so your wardrobe should reflect it. Here are some of the necessities for any valets.

For work, a very dressy suit is usually a good standard to go by. Tuxedos would not be ridiculous, but they are not necessary. If you have a tuxedo already by any chance, then you should not hesitate to wear it. If you work for an agency, they might already have a dress code by which all of the valets are required to choose their wardrobes. This may be a pain to follow, but it will make it easier by taking the choice out of your hands. These dress codes are usually enforced to give that particular agency a sense of individuality with its valets. In a sea of valets, one must find creative ways to make a particular agency stand out above the rest.

Since you will be expected to wear smooth, clean suits on a daily basis, you will need to figure out some special tricks for keeping it wrinkle-free. It is probably worth investing in something known aptly as a valet stand. It is the equivalent of a wooden human torso which will keep your jacket in the exact position that it should always be in when you are wearing it. This lets it hang naturally how it feels most comfortable, and keep from getting any wrinkles that will show up the next day.

If you need to find clothes for a valet job, just go to your local suit shop. Explain to them your situation. They will not only be able to get you the suit you need, but they will also show you accessories that will come in handy in keeping your appearance as polished as possible.
